This multinational company that leads its field in Australia manufactures, markets and distributes a comprehensive range of products for the trailer, caravan and motorhome market in Australia and New Zealand. Best known for their high-quality running gear range including axles, brakes, suspension products and undercarriage components; the company’s strong growth has been driven by excellent customer service, product range enhancement, expansion and innovation that has further enhanced the group’s position as a market leader.
Excellence has been delivered in this role and due to the retirement of the incumbent the opportunity now exists for an outstanding Technical Manager to lead the R&D Team and take responsibility for:
- Providing outstanding leadership and drive to the engineering, product development and quality systems of the company
- Ensuring on-time delivery of product development projects and that the products meet the agreed requirements including functionality, design, unit costs and capital investment
- Ensuring innovation and technology is used in existing and new products so that the company is the leader in its field
- Lead, motivate, manage and develop staff in your department to ensure they achieve the expected results
- Be a key contributor in the development and delivery of a quality system within the company
- Working closely with the Managing Director and the Senior Executive Team to develop strategies to ensure ongoing turnover and EBITDA growth
- Working closely with the Production Team to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies
- Understanding the market and product to ensure that the new products under development will suit the company’s customers
- Manage and solve quality issues, both in process and in the field
To ensure your success you will demonstrate:
- Experience in leading a team of qualified engineers and technical staff in a successful company
- Suitable qualifications to manage the product development and product improvements in the field of mechanical engineering and familiarity with electronic engineering
- Possess the intelligence and flexible thinking to succeed in a fast-paced environment and in a company growing very strongly
- Experience leading an engineering team that uses the latest technical design and prototyping tools
- Proven ability to work effectively at all levels of an organisation and dealing with government and regulatory authorities
- Have the ability to be hands-on and roll up your sleeves to get things done
A phased position hand over is anticipated with the current Technical and Manufacturing Manager, and it is envisaged that during this period you will report to and work alongside the current Manager, who retires after 40 years in this role. It is critical you ensure that every opportunity is captured during this handover period to ensure your success in managing and controlling the Company’s total R&D activities with success.
