Specialist Role

ABOUT THIS ROLE
Production schedulers are the connective tissue between sales commitments, raw material availability and manufacturing capacity. They translate demand into achievable daily and weekly production plans, manage competing priorities across work centres, and keep operations moving when things don’t go to plan.
Brisbane’s manufacturing sector spans food and beverage, building products, industrial and consumer goods. Across all of them, a competent production scheduler who understands both ERP systems and shop floor realities is one of the harder roles to fill well.
Key responsibilities
- Building and maintaining daily, weekly and medium-term production schedules aligned to customer delivery requirements
- Running MRP processes and interpreting system-generated demand signals and exception messages
- Balancing capacity constraints across work centres against order priorities and material availability
- Coordinating with procurement to flag material shortfalls before they impact the schedule
- Communicating schedule changes to production supervisors, warehouse and customer service teams
- Monitoring work-in-progress and adjusting plans in response to line stoppages, quality holds or demand changes
- Maintaining data integrity in ERP systems including BOMs, routings and work order status
- Reporting schedule adherence and on-time delivery KPIs to operations management
What we screen for
- Demonstrated experience in a production scheduling or planning role within a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on ERP/MRP system experience — SAP, MYOB Advanced, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar
- Strong analytical capability and proficiency in Excel for capacity analysis and reporting
- Ability to hold competing priorities clearly and make sound calls under time pressure
- Communication skills to work across production, warehouse, procurement and commercial teams
- Understanding of BOMs, routings and manufacturing work order processes
Licenses and Tickets
- APICS CPIM (advantageous)
- Degree in Supply Chain or Operations (advantageous)
- No site licences required
Pay Rates for Production Scheduler in Brisbane
Production scheduler salaries in Brisbane reflect the level of ERP complexity involved and the size of the manufacturing operation being planned.
Entry-level schedulers coming from a planning coordinator background typically start in the low-to-mid $70Ks, while experienced schedulers managing multi-site or high-SKU environments comfortably reach $90K–$95K. Candidates with APICS certification or deep SAP experience tend to command the upper end.
Contract and fixed-term engagements are common during ERP implementations or maternity cover. These are typically quoted on an hourly or daily rate equivalent to the permanent salary range above.

How We Place Production Schedulers
Good production schedulers are scarce. Most of the best ones aren't actively looking. We work both sides of that, placing active candidates and those we already have relationships with.
Service One
Labour Hire
Interim cover for system transitions, restructures or extended leave. We supply contractors who can step into a live schedule without a lengthy handover.
Service Two
Contract and Fixed-Term
The most common engagement for this role. ERP go-lives, parental leave and peak planning periods all create genuine fixed-term needs.
Service Three
Permanent Recruitment
For businesses that need a scheduler embedded for the long term, we place candidates with the systems knowledge and floor credibility to contribute from day one.
Send us your CV and we’ll match you with businesses that suit your systems experience and industry background.
