Hire Production Planners in Brisbane
A production plan that works on paper is one thing. One that holds up against material shortages, machine downtime and shifting customer priorities is another. This page covers what production planners do across Brisbane's manufacturing sector, what the role pays and how Youngbrook places planners with the systems knowledge and operational instinct to manage both.

Office and Production Floor Based
Specialist Role

ABOUT THIS ROLE
Production planners are responsible for translating demand into executable production schedules, balancing material availability, manufacturing capacity and customer commitments across daily and weekly planning horizons. The role sits close to production scheduling in function, but typically operates at a broader planning level — managing medium to long-term capacity, supporting S&OP processes and feeding into procurement and inventory decisions.
In Brisbane, production planners work across food and beverage manufacturing, building and construction products, industrial supply and consumer goods businesses. It’s a role that rewards people who are analytically strong, comfortable working with ERP systems and capable of making clear decisions when information is incomplete or demand changes without warning.
Our manufacturing and trades recruitment guide covers why planning and operations roles are among the more competitive to fill in Brisbane’s manufacturing sector.
What we screen for
- Demonstrated experience in a production planning or supply chain planning role within a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on ERP experience at a planning level. SAP, MYOB Advanced, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar.
- Strong analytical capability and proficiency in Excel for capacity modelling and scenario analysis
- Understanding of MRP logic, BOMs, routings and manufacturing lead time structures
- Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate planning decisions clearly under operational pressure
- Experience supporting or participating in S&OP or IBP processes. Advantageous for larger operations.
Licenses and Tickets
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification. Well regarded.
- Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or Business. Advantageous.
- No site licences required.
How We Place Production Planners
Planning roles attract candidates with strong ERP backgrounds, but finding someone who also understands the operational realities of a production floor is harder. We screen for both, and we maintain relationships with experienced planners who are not actively on the market.
Permanent Recruitment
The most common engagement for this role. We source and place permanent production planners with the systems depth, analytical capability and manufacturing background your operation requires.
Contract and Fixed-Term
Common for planning roles during ERP transitions, parental leave cover or periods of operational change. We place contract planners who can step into a live planning environment and contribute from week one.
Labour Hire
Less common for this role but relevant for businesses needing interim planning support during restructures or rapid growth phases where permanent headcount is not yet confirmed.
