ABOUT THIS ROLE

Pick packers are responsible for accurately selecting products from warehouse locations and preparing them for dispatch. The role sits at the heart of order fulfilment operations and directly affects delivery accuracy, customer satisfaction and outbound throughput. Speed and accuracy are both important. One without the other creates problems downstream.

In Brisbane, pick packers are in consistent demand across e-commerce fulfilment centres, food and grocery distribution, pharmaceutical warehouses, retail logistics and general wholesale operations. The role is often a first step into warehouse work and a natural progression point toward warehouse operator and storeperson roles for those who demonstrate reliability and accuracy.

Our guide to hiring staff in Brisbane’s industrial areas covers where pick packer demand is highest and which precincts are hardest to fill quickly.

  • Packing products to specification including correct labelling, quantities and packaging standards
  • Checking picked orders against pick slips or system-generated documentation before dispatch
  • Maintaining pick accuracy rates in line with site targets
  • Replenishing pick face locations as required during the shift
  • Following housekeeping, WHS and site safety requirements throughout the shift
  • Reporting discrepancies, damaged goods or stock location errors to supervisors promptly

Pay Rates for Pick Packers in Brisbane

Brisbane pick packer rates on active job range from $33 to $46/hr depending on the site and shift pattern. Day shift casual roles typically sit between $30 and $34/hr inclusive of casual loading. Afternoon and night shift penalties push rates noticeably higher, and roles in cold storage or pharmaceutical environments attract additional allowances above the standard warehouse rate.

Operators holding a forklift licence who take on combined pick packer and operator roles are typically placed at the upper end of the range. Casual and labour hire engagements include the 25% casual loading under the applicable award.
