Trades Role

ABOUT THIS ROLE
Mechanical fitters assemble, install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment across manufacturing and industrial operations. The work spans planned maintenance, breakdown response and shutdown activities. This involves covering pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment of all kinds.
On larger sites the role sits within a maintenance team under a leading hand or maintenance supervisor. On smaller sites a fitter may be the primary trades resource, working directly with production management and external contractors.
The role requires a trade qualification as a baseline. Beyond that, employers in Brisbane’s manufacturing sector are looking for post-trade experience in a production or industrial maintenance environment, the ability to fault-find independently and the discipline to complete maintenance records accurately and work safely under pressure.
Mechanical fitters in Brisbane are employed across food and beverage processing, building and construction products, packaging, industrial equipment manufacturing and general manufacturing operations where equipment reliability is directly tied to production output.
Our trades and engineering recruitment guide covers why qualified mechanical fitters are among the most consistently in-demand tradespeople across Brisbane’s manufacturing sector and why sourcing them requires more than posting a job ad.

Contract and Fixed-Term
Relevant for businesses managing shutdowns, production ramp-ups, parental leave cover or extended equipment projects. We place experienced contract fitters who can step into a live maintenance function and contribute immediately.
Permanent Recruitment
The most common engagement for this role. We source and place permanent mechanical fitters with the trade background, maintenance experience and safety discipline your operation requires.
