Hire Electricians in Brisbane

When the power goes down in a manufacturing environment, everything stops. Electricians keep plant and equipment running, faults diagnosed and electrical systems compliant. The best ones do it before anyone else knows there was a problem.

Electrical Engineers Working on a Panel Box

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Electricians in Brisbane’s manufacturing and industrial sector install, maintain, diagnose and repair electrical systems across production plant, machinery, control systems and site infrastructure. The work ranges from planned preventive maintenance and fault-finding on production equipment through to new installations, switchboard work and control system modifications.

The role sits differently depending on the employer. In a large manufacturing facility an electrician typically works within a maintenance team, responding to breakdowns and executing planned maintenance tasks against a schedule. In a smaller operation they may be the sole electrical trade resource, responsible for everything from light fittings to motor drives and PLC fault-finding. The capability required in each case is different and we screen candidates accordingly.

Brisbane’s manufacturing and industrial sector employs electricians across food and beverage processing, building products, packaging, industrial equipment manufacturing, civil and commercial construction and a range of trade and industrial services businesses. Demand is consistent and licensed electricians with genuine maintenance experience are among the harder trades to source at short notice.

Our Hiring Staff in Brisbane guide covers which industrial areas have the highest demand for licensed electricians and why these roles consistently stay open longer than most employers expect.

What We Screen For

Licence and Qualification

A current Queensland Electrical Worker licence is the non-negotiable baseline for all placements. The licence type and any endorsements are confirmed before candidates are presented to any employer.

Industrial or Commercial Maintenance Experience

Demonstrated post-trade experience in an industrial, manufacturing or commercial maintenance environment. Candidates with only domestic installation experience are a poor match for most of the roles Youngbrook places in this sector.

Fault-Finding Capability

The ability to diagnose electrical faults systematically and resolve them efficiently under production pressure. Candidates are screened for their approach to fault-finding, not just their ability to describe it.

Control Systems and Automation Awareness

Familiarity with motor drives, control panels and basic PLC fault-finding is expected for most industrial maintenance roles. Candidates with deeper PLC or instrumentation experience are matched to roles where that capability is specifically required.

Safety and Compliance

Sound understanding of isolation procedures, permit-to-work systems and the electrical safety obligations that apply in a Queensland industrial environment. Compliance is not negotiable and candidates who treat it as optional are not placed.

Pay Rates for Electricians in Brisbane

Electrician salaries in Brisbane’s manufacturing and industrial sector reflect licence status, the type of environment the candidate has worked in and the depth of their fault-finding and control systems experience.

Newly licensed electricians or those coming from a domestic installation background typically start between $75,000 and $85,000 in an industrial or commercial role. Those with demonstrated industrial or commercial maintenance experience and solid fault-finding capability move toward $85,000 to $100,000. Experienced maintenance electricians with PLC exposure, instrumentation experience or a background in complex multi-line production environments can reach $100,000 to $115,000 in Brisbane-based roles.

Mining, resources and FIFO environments sit materially higher and are not reflected here. This page focuses on Brisbane-based manufacturing, industrial and commercial operations.

Contract and labour hire arrangements are common during plant shutdowns, maintenance backlogs and periods of production growth where permanent headcount is not immediately confirmed.
