ABOUT THIS ROLE
Quality assurance officers are responsible for developing, maintaining and improving the quality management systems that keep manufacturing operations compliant and consistent. Where a QC inspector catches defects at the point of production, a QA officer works a level above that. They build the procedures, manage the documentation, conduct internal audits and drive the corrective action processes that prevent defects from recurring.
In Brisbane, QA officers work across food and beverage production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, building and construction products, medical devices and general industrial environments. The role requires someone who is equally comfortable on the production floor and behind a desk, and who understands that a quality system only works if the people using it actually understand it.
Key responsibilities
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining quality management system documentation including procedures, work instructions and forms
- Conducting internal audits against ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP or relevant industry standards
- Managing non-conformance reports, corrective actions and preventive actions through to closure
- Supporting external audits, certification renewals and regulatory inspections
- Investigating quality complaints and product failures and coordinating root cause analysis
- Training production and warehouse staff on quality procedures and hygiene requirements
- Monitoring quality KPIs and reporting performance trends to management
- Working with production, procurement and warehouse teams to embed quality standards across the operation
What we screen for
- Demonstrated experience in a quality assurance or quality management role within a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of relevant quality standards. ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP or industry-specific equivalents.
- Experience conducting internal audits and managing corrective action processes
- Strong documentation and report writing skills
- Ability to communicate quality requirements clearly across production, warehouse and management teams
- Analytical thinking and a structured approach to problem solving and root cause analysis
- Industry background relevant to the manufacturing environment. Food and beverage, pharmaceutical or building products preferred.
Licenses and Tickets
- ISO 9001 internal auditor certification. Well regarded.
- Food safety supervisor certificate. Required in food and beverage environments.
- HACCP certification. Relevant for food, pharmaceutical and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field. Advantageous.
