Specialist Role

If you have QA experience in a manufacturing environment and a solid understanding of quality management systems, send us your CV and we will match you with roles that suit your background.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Quality assurance officers are responsible for developing, maintaining and improving the quality management systems that keep manufacturing operations compliant and consistent. Where a QC inspector catches defects at the point of production, a QA officer works a level above that. They build the procedures, manage the documentation, conduct internal audits and drive the corrective action processes that prevent defects from recurring.
In Brisbane, QA officers work across food and beverage production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, building and construction products, medical devices and general industrial environments. The role requires someone who is equally comfortable on the production floor and behind a desk, and who understands that a quality system only works if the people using it actually understand it.
What we screen for
Experience and Background
Demonstrated experience in a quality assurance or quality management role within a manufacturing environment is the baseline for all placements.
Quality Standards Knowledge
Working knowledge of relevant quality standards is required. ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP are the most common across Brisbane’s manufacturing sector. The specific standard matters less than the candidate’s ability to apply it practically in a production environment.
Auditing and Corrective Action
Experience conducting internal audits and managing corrective action processes through to close-out. Candidates who can identify a non-conformance but cannot drive the resolution are a limited asset in most operations.
Documentation and Reporting
Strong documentation and report writing skills are screened for every placement. Quality roles generate records that are reviewed by clients, regulators and certification bodies and the standard of that documentation reflects directly on the business.
Cross-functional Communication
The ability to communicate quality requirements clearly across production, warehouse and management teams. Quality managers who can only speak to other quality professionals are not effective in a manufacturing environment.
Analytical and Problem Solving Approach
Structured analytical thinking and a proven approach to root cause analysis. Candidates are screened for their ability to get past symptoms and identify the underlying cause of a quality issue.
Industry Background
Relevant manufacturing industry experience is considered during screening. Food and beverage, pharmaceutical and building products backgrounds are particularly well matched to Brisbane’s manufacturing sector.

Licenses and Tickets
- ISO 9001 internal auditor certification. Well regarded.
- Food safety supervisor certificate. Required in food and beverage environments.
- HACCP certification. Relevant for food, pharmaceutical and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field. Advantageous.
How We Place Quality Assurance Officers
QA officers with genuine systems experience and audit capability are not easy to find on the open market. Most are employed and not actively looking. We place both candidates who are on the market and those we have built relationships with over time, which matters when the role is compliance-critical and the business can't afford to wait.
Permanent Recruitment
The most common engagement for this role. We source and place permanent QA officers with the systems knowledge, audit experience and industry background your manufacturing environment requires.
Contract and Fixed-Term
Relevant for businesses preparing for certification audits, managing parental leave cover or implementing a new quality management system. We place experienced QA contractors who can step into a live system and add value quickly.
Pay Rates for Quality Assurance Officers in Brisbane
The Brisbane average for QA officers sits at around $81,237 per year, with entry-level officers in smaller manufacturing businesses typically starting between $70,000 and $78,000. Nationally, the typical range sits between $75,000 and $90,000, with Brisbane broadly in line with the upper end for roles in regulated environments such as food and beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Officers with ISO 9001 auditor certification, HACCP experience or a background in highly regulated industries consistently attract salaries toward $90,000 to $95,000. Contract placements for audit preparation, parental leave cover or system implementation projects are quoted on an equivalent hourly or daily rate.
